The bankruptcy of the Nordwest Najad Group in February 2013 dealt a heavy blow to the Najad brand. For a long time, it was unclear whether the traditional Swedish shipyard would ever get back on its feet. The rescue finally came in October 2013, when Lidköping Båtsnickeri announced the takeover of Najad with its Swedestar brand. YACHT online has reported.
Following the company merger, the logical next step is to realise this within the product range. The relatively small Swedestar brand with the types 415 (test in YACHT 6/13) and 370 (test in YACHT 8/09) will be fully integrated into the existing Najad programme. The two elegant cruiser/racers from designer Håkan Södergren will be built from now on as the Najad 415p and Najad 370p. The "p" stands for performance. Of course, the two models will also be visually harmonised with the Najad line, i.e. they will have decorative stripes and water passages in the typical Najad red. Otherwise, the specifications of the two yachts remain unchanged. As will the prices: The Najad 415p with its extensive basic equipment will cost 376,040 euros ex shipyard, including sails and 19% VAT. The smaller Najad 370p will be available with comparable equipment for 272,700 euros.
As Najad further announces, from now on all new Najad yachts, including the new models in the Performance line, will be built at the production facility on the island of Henån. The moulds for the former Swedestar products have already been shipped there. A new Najad 415p is currently under construction. It is possible that the boat will make its debut at the "boot" trade fair in Düsseldorf in January 2015. However, the shipyard was unable to confirm this definitively when asked.
